Vijay's latest film ‘Velayudham’ directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja started rolling yesterday. The film is currently progressing in and around locations in Hyderabad. A special set was erected at the world famous Golconda fort and the shoot started in that. ‘Jayam’ Raja is filming the climax fight. Earlier Vijay's 2004 film 'Thirumali' was also shot in this historical fort location.

The attractive images of Vijay all dressed like a super man Robinhood with guns and swords in the launch invite materials are going to be from this climax fighting sequence. The action scenes were choreographed by Selvam master who was also the stunt director of ‘Anniyan’. The ‘Anniyan’ look of Vijay may be also because of ‘Anniyan’ producer Aascar Ravichandran is the producer of Vijay's ‘Velayudham’ also.

A spokesperson of Gemini Film Circuit (GFC) which bagged the Tamil-Telugu remake rights of the biggest Hindi blockbuster the biggest Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots, confirmed that this project will take place after numero uno director Shankar releases his magnum opus Endhiran starring Rajinikanth Recently Shankar’s publicist tweeted that Vijay Simbu and Madhavan, along with Sathyaraj (in the role made memorable by Boman Irani), will feature in the Tamil version, while the only change in the Telugu version will be Mahesh Babu replacing Vijay.Then Madhavan tweeted, “So sorry folks! I’m unable to do 3 Idiots in Tamil and Telugu. Ever since the Hindi film ‘3 Idiots’ hit the screens last December and become attained a cult status there has been news pouring in from all quarters about its remakes in south Indian languages. There have been enough permutations and combinations worked out by all as to who would play the three idiots – Aamir Khan, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi in the southern versions. First it was said Vikram will do the Aamir Khan and Madhavan will play the same in Tamil. Then Vijay’s name cropped up to it soon began to take serious proportions. Jeevan and Silambarasan were also discussed to take up a character and that will begin a new era in multi starrers in Tamil. Then suddenly Suriya’s name was in media saying even he has shown interest in the film. The hype was not only there for Tamil. Even Tollywood was abuzz with its own remake of ‘3 Idiots’. First it was mentioned that Pawan Kalyan may enact Aamir Khan’s role in Telugu. Now the latest buzz is Mahesh Babu has been almost finalized in Telugu. In Tamil Vijay was there in almost all casting contemplations and now it is almost certain Vijay will be Aamir Khan in Tamil. But the biggest deal was who will direct the remakes? Again there were a host of names tossed up including Saran and K S Ravikumar. But now suddenly there are news seriously reporting that Shankar will direct the versions in both Kollywood and Tollywood. Shankar who has just completed the most expensive Indian film ‘Endhiran’ is now busy working on the release.  Having directed the biggest ever south Indian movie will Shankar opt to direct a remake as his next? This year Vijay may end up as the actor with maximum releases. His sudden shift of gear is making the right noises in the right time at the right places. Even as he was doing ‘Kaaval Kadhal’, Vijay announced the next project ‘Velayudham’.

After that Vijay had agreed to do films for Seeman and Lingusamy. Though every one expected Seeman would begin his film first now the sources say Lingusamy will move first. Also his fans wait for the ‘3 Idiots’ remake under Shankar which is expected to start in October.

Meanwhile Vikaram K. Kumar has also moved inside the Vijay den. After dropping the film '24' which was supposed to have happened with ‘Chiyaan’ Vikram, the young director had narrated a story to Vijay and Vijay liked it. When Vijay shared the decision with his father SA Chandrasekaran, he also approved and the film is likely to start early next year. This Vijay film to be directed by Vikram K. Kumar will be produced by AM Ratnam, the once high profile producer who produced the block buster 'Ghilli' with Vijay in 2004.

If reports are to be believed, Shankar could soon wield the megaphone for the remake of the Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots. Now, Shankar is known for making his films - be it serious and jolly subjects - in his own style. His uniqueness and the Shankar trademark were evident in all the films that he had made so far.

So, is it really possible that he would opt for a remake? Could be, is the answer we get. 
Yet another important info – the star cast – of this remake is also out. Sources say that Vijay, Jiiva and Siddarth will play the three important roles.

‘Velayudham’ secrets revealed

Busy with the works related to ‘Velayudham’, his first film with Vijay which is to be launched at a grand function in Chennai today, director ‘Jayam’ Raja has revealed some interesting details on the movie.

“It is a film for the masses. Based on a story by late director Tirupathisamy, ‘Velayudham’ revolves around an ordinary man, who becomes a real hero for the sake of people,” Raja says.

“Vijay plays an enterprising youngster while Genelia is doing the role of a journalist,” the director says and adds: “Hansika Motwani and Saranya Mohan are also doing crucial characters. Comedy will be taken care of by Santhanam and Sathyan.”

Saying Vijay Antony has come out with catchy songs, Raja continues: “this is the first time for me to direct a big hero like Vijay. The decision (to work with Vijay) was made since he fits well to the role, which is about a larger than life personality.”

VELAYUDHAM KICK STARTS IN STYLE!

The pooja and kick off event of Vijay’s Velayudham, held today, was as much as a family event as it was a fan event. Fans from 30 districts in Tamil Nadu thronged the Madras University Centenary Hall in Chepauk to get a glimpse of Vijay and to participate in the commencement of the movie. The dais saw the Velayudham team present with their families: Vijay, Jeyam Raja, Aaskar Sridhar attended the event with their spouses along with S A Chandrasekhar, Shoba Chandrasekhar, Editor Mohan, Vijay Anthony, Genelia and Hansika Motwani.

The event started after a baton that travelled across Tamil Nadu and brought to the event by fans, was handed over to Vijay. At 10.05, the auspicious time, Pooja was held and a bound script was handed by Sridhar, S A Chandrasekhar and Editor Mohan to Vijay. A teaser trailer, shot during the photo sessions, was also shown to the hollering fans. A title song of sorts, composed by Vijay Anthony, was played time and again during the event making the fans scream their lungs out.

Hansika and Genelia were the first ones to speak at the event, who said that they are happy to associate with the team. After which Vijay Anthony addressed the audience, who also revealed that he was bowled over by the story even as it was narrated to him by Jeyam Raja. “I realized the edge-of-the-seat experience when I heard the story,” he said. He assured that the movie would be a runaway hit in 2011 and it would be an out and out entertainer with all commercial ingredients thrown in.

An ecstatic Raja said it is the happiest day in his life. “I’m lucky to have associated with producer Aascar Ravichandran. I’m happy that the chief guests for this event are the fans. They are the judges and I assure them that Velayudham would be the best movie in Vijay’s career,” he declared. A book, titled Saadanai Naayaganin Sarithira Padivugal, written by Vijay’s PRO for more than a decade P T Selvakumar was also released at the event. This book traces the life of Vijay from his childhood days to Velayudham and includes photos and snippets collected from various points of his life.

Vijay was all praise for producer Aascar Ravichandran and revealed that it was Ravi’s idea to have fans participate in the pooja of Velayudham. “My films usually do not have grand launch events. However, Aascar wanted it to be so but I was skeptical about it. I told him not to bring any international stars like Jackie Chan like he did for Dasavatharam launch. That is when he suggested this idea to include fans in the launch,” he said. “I am glad to have done this since I’m where I’m because of my fans,” he stated emotionally. He went on to assure that the movie would be a good entertainer and appealed his fans to support the movie like they do for his other movies.

On a lighter note, about the heroines, he said that Hansika Motwani is like Kushboo from 16 Vayadinile. On Genelia, he stated that they share a rapport since he knows her owing to their earlier association.

All the fans, who were selected to attend the event, received a gift hamper with a Velayudham Tshirt. They were also served with Biriyani and refreshments to go along with it.

Vijay’s third film by Lingusamy

Vijay is galloping. The actor wants to get back to his original glory as soon as possible and so he is signing spree. This year may have the most releases of Vijay in a year like never before.

‘Kaaval Kadhal’ with Siddique is almost ready. ‘Velayudham’ will have a magnificent launch on July 15 and will immediately start rolling. At the same time, sources say Vijay has also decided on what his third film will be.

According to the sources, Vijay's next film after ‘Velayudham’ will be the one directed by Lingusamy and produced by Cloud Nine Movies. This producer-director team worked magic in ‘Paiyaa’ and would want to recreate the same success story again with Vijay.

This leaves a question behind. What will happen to the politically correct film of Vijay that was to be written and directed by Seeman?

vijay 51st movie is kaaval kadhal?

The title of Vijay’s forthcoming film, which is a remake of Malayalam hit ‘Bodyguard’, is not ‘Kaavalkaran’ as guessed by many. The movie directed by Siddique has been named ‘Kaaval Kaadhal’.but it is not finalized name.

And this has been confirmed by no lesser person than Asin, who is the heroine of the film. “A major portion of ‘Kaaval Kaadhal’ has been shot. I am happy about the shaping up of the movie,” she said.

The actress, who is making a reentry into south Indian cinema with this 51st film of Vijay, added: “Siddique is a highly respected director and Vijay is a top hero. Working with them is no doubt a delight.”
