Have you checked the directory permissions? By default, your Documents directory is set to only be readable by you (for security on your local machine).

    Try chmodding that sucker...

    [edit: Nevermind. :)]

This started happening around Thursday. The touch screen do not response anymore. Hardware button works. Rotational sensor works. A hard reset (home+power for 10 seconds) sometimes work.

Being a tech person, I systematically deleted apps that I installed to that date, but that was not the problem.

I wonder if it is related to network -- i.e. if it is access the wireless network (checking mail, push notification etc) and gets locked up.

Any one else starting to having this problem?

    P.K.

I'm going to wake up at 4am and get to the Apple Store as quickly as possible. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one!

Final fantasy 7, or any other classic psx game

There's software out there that converts your psx games into playable form on the psp. Final fantasy 7 should last you 30-40 hours, so that takes care of your trip. It also saves you on battery life since its running off of the memory card.

I'm living in a 2 bedroom/4 person suite with a living room. For the first week or so, we connected using the old way: an Ethernet cable.

But I realized unplugging and plugging back in was silly when I had an Airport Express sitting in my desk.

So now, we have a wireless network. I lowerd the strength, made it password protected, and hidden. It's awesome! It's hooked up to my JBL Creature speakers and my printer, so now, we can be in the living room online, printing, playing tunes, whatever. Plus there's never anything to plug in when I bring my computer back to the room, just open it up!.

Watch out though, my roomates have played a trick on me once. I was sitting in front of my computer (and speakers) and my roomate decided to start blasting music on my speakers... I jumped quite a bit...

The only downside is now I can't share my iTunes library with the rest of the Residence Hall, nor can I view theirs.

Yes, I'm going to make a moral judgement - if you've just bought a $1200+ computer surely you can afford the $60 to get the three iWork apps from the App Store. If it's tapped out your bank account, wait a few weeks and save up for it.

    You're pirating software. Don't.

Cisco have owned this trademark for years. Apple were in negotiations to buy it, but for whatever reason they couldn't close the deal in time. Apple should therefore have not announced that the product was going to be called iPhone at the keynote.

Doing so before the deal was done was a big mistake. Cisco can now triple the price for the name and Apple either have to pay or look humiliated.

Apple can throw as many lawyers as they like at it now, but that name is still Cisco's property. Last time I looked, Cisco could afford a big legal team of their own. They can't be bullied here.

EDIT : Although whether the situation worldwide is quite so clear cut is debatable. Article from The Register. (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/01/12/cisco_apple_iphone_trademark_spat/)

Thank you very much for the very thorough responses.

As I said I am not the most tech savvy guy in the world and sometimes it's frustrating (as a creative professional) to try and learn the tech side of things on top of having to master FCP,AE,PS,C4D,AI, etc etc.

The flip side of course, is tech geniuses have to put up with my amateurish questions. Heh.

Very nice, and tastefully done. Forget about the naked aspect, the pose, the look on her face, the angle of her head. I feel more compelled to look at the head up more than anything else. And I don't find anything pornograhpic about it. It isn't revealing, less so than a tight low cut top. Good job. Gets my vote. The only thing that is missing is a spot of color. The bed frame doesn't count. Though I don't know what or where to put it. And possibly black and white would be better as the bed frame is out of sorts color wise.

By the way, we may have to change your username to iTease. JK ;)

Yeah, that's it. The comments in the extensionroom seemed to claim that TBP had exactly the same features, but was less buggy. I guess they were wrong.

The only part of it I use is the forcing of new windows to open as new tabs instead, so there wasn't any visible difference to me.

On Windows, but not Mac, I've seen some bugginess with TBE where it will sometimes fail to implement its prefs correctly on startup, so that close buttons aren't where they're supposed to be, single-window-mode doesn't work, etc, and restarting FF is required. I don't think I've seen this on my Mac. I'm not sure to be honest, though, how true all this is. The last time I tried TBP, it did not have all the features TBE did.

But when I was talking about accidentally getting TBP, I was wondering if the OP might have done that, and thought TBE was missing a lot of prefs on the Mac. But unlikely. :)

Yeah but her model is an unibody one, it shouldn't be breaking since there is nothing slamming at it every time you close the lid.

It has happened before and apple replaced it for free (under warranty). Mine has nothing of those cracks but the top part is new (faulty lcd, replaced for free).

Lol I am a guy. Blondie was just my nickname from high school. But yeah, I was wondering if the warranty would still cover my cracks for free as well. I have a few friends that have had issues with their 2009 MacBook plastic cracking as well. So I think they may head into apple and see what they can do.

Did you fight over who got to be Mac?

What would you like the title of your ad to be in the contest gallery? Apple's "PC and Mac" ads have titles, and yours should too.

Stunning... no other word for it. But is it the right typeface?

Good catch. I had a Homer Simpson moment shortly after I posted. I was hoping I could just quietly replace the image but the mods want me to start a new thread.

Thanks for the comments everyone. :)

Glad to see they are still hardworking on fixing and improving "not-new" products.

That's one thing I really hate about apple. Once a new revision comes out, if you have a problem with the previous generation product you may as well forget about it ever getting fixed.

People forget that Apple has first and foremost always been a hardware company, one that produces electronic gadgets. Yes, they started off making computers, but even as early as the late 80s/early 90s, Apple was moving into other directions, such as the Newton (PDA) and the Pippin (video game console.) I don't think that a keynote dedicated to the iPhone is in any way a sign that Mac OS X is being "neglected." It's simply a presentation matter. It's easier to make a 90-minute keynote talking about new features in iPhone OS 2.0 than it is to say, "Snow Leopard will not have any major new features. Whoopee."

    Cool as!

Yea. I can't remember specific titles, but I remember splitscreen multiplayer games ran a little bit better with an expansion pack in.

God if only the N64 could connect to my monitor I'd be back on Mario 64, Goldeneye, OoT... :o

You missed the real story -- in the release notes Apple explain that they're deprecating the Apple maintained version of Java:

    http://www.infoq.com/news/2010/10/apple-deprecates-java

Apple have provided a mechanism for installing 3rd party JDKs (in particular OpenJDK), but it likely won't work with current versions of Java IDEs (Netbeans, Eclipse etc) until they're updated to work with the new paths.

I wonder if this is anything to do with Oralce?
No. It's not related to any dislike between Apple and Oracle. I believe it was timed purposely to keep Java applications out of the new Mac App Store.
More importantly, is Java going to die on OS X? If OpenJDK or Soylatte don't pick it up then is all lost?
Don't forget the IcedTea project. This is related to OpenJDK, and already has a working Mac implementation.

I believe you mean: to shut, not shutter? :D

Actually, the word shutter is sometimes used to mean "to shut down"

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/shutter - definition #7

I first experienced this last year. It's really annoying not being able to access sales reports or edit prices during that period. It's all automated. It seems pretty unprofessional to me. Just have a skeleton crew on call in case of failure.
