Only took two songs to convince me.... I immediately downloaded everything Katie Melua has available on iTunes and am enjoying her beautiful voice even as I type.... I wish her new album were on iTunes, too, but I can check the local music stores next time I'm there and pick up the actual CD.

Thank you for guiding me to this singer with the exquisite voice! :)

I have a Dell laptop now with a 30gb drive and have barely 5gb filled. I don't think having a 40gb in my iBook will be a big problem.

An external drive would be nice because I would like to share files between computers.

byteSizeOfElement is wrong. Your code will only work (if all other bugs are fixed) with 64 bit code, not with 32 bit code.

    Care to explain why?

Having little faith in the user (mainly me) to actually release the pointer, I already decided to get the value by passing a reference.

    -(void) element:(void *) element

Can you show us the example online?

Not to dissuade you from finding the solution, but what you are describing is a pretty horrendous way to design a final layout.

using PS is part n parcel, but the ol' rollover image swap HTML stuff went out with table layouts.

More than likely you are better off doing your design using CSS/HTML and maybe some JS if you arent happy with what CSS can do for you.

The color inconsistency may have to do with your browser and PS not using colorspaces properly.

    Hi Guys & Gals,

I'm going to make the jump to an Intel SSD this weekend to replace my stock 320GB (5400 RPM) Drive in the 2010 Mac Mini.

Those of you that have actually done this, did you find that the Logic Board really needed to be shifted at all? I've been looking at the OWC installation Video and it would seem to me that the drive will lift out over the Logic Board without moving the board at all. It would mean that I would only have to detach the first SATA and two heat connectors. The least amount of connectors I have to pull the better I would assume. Also, I'm thinking that the black vinyl covering wrapped around the 320GB drive is there to protect the moving/electrical drive components on the bottom of the drive, which I would not need on the SSD. I know that I need/should replace the piece of tape to hold the heat sensor wire on the new SSD.

    Any help would be great.....:)

    2010 Mac Mini (2.4MHz - 8GB RAM Intel 80GB SSD(pending)) Air Port Extreme, 2TB Mini Stack External Dive, 16GB WiFi iPad, 32GB iPhone 3GS.

I have not done an SSD per say, but I have made a little side business upgrading the hard drive on 2010 Mac Mini's and selling them on ebay. After having done 10 or so of these, yes you do need to pull the logic board out slightly. The hard drive will not lift up enough to give you the angle you need clear the logic board with out pulling it out.

That said, only pull it out enough to see a small gap of air between the black beisl in the rear and the alum case.

WRT the heat sensors... I have found that the smallest amount of rubber cement works well if you you loose the adhesive when transferring the sensor. 8/10 times you will have plenty of stick left though and wont need to add any.

The black cover I have also assumed was there for air flow as well. If the SSD has a smooth surface, and no logic board to short, you probably can do away with it.

Do you think that's early enough?

I honestly have no idea. I don't know what to expect at all. I was thinking I might go around 7-8 AM, but maybe 10ish will be fine?

Depends on what you call normal.

    Mathematica 8 (http://www.wolfram.com/mathematica/new-in-8/)

Word processing, iTunes, iLife apps, and even pro apps such as Aperture and Final Cut. Final Cut Pro X will make more use though.

I am doing a website for a client and they have sent me their logo.

The design is pretty basic but the image they sent me doesn't quite do it justice.

I was wondering if anyone could knock up a slightly sleeker looking logo?

I have been using screen in the osx terminal to get serial access, using the following:

    screen telnet /dev/tty.usbserial

Unfortunately I can't scrollback in screen, which makes copying long config files a process of :apple:-C, :apple:-V, and repeat. Any suggestions for native serial support in the osx terminal app WITH scrollback?

Are you sure thats the command you use? screen telnet /dev/tty.usbserial would start screen and run telnet /dev/tty.usbserial in it which I would expect to fail straight away as telnet doesn't deal with serial ports AFAIK.

What you probably want to use, assuming you are connecting over a serial line is screen /dev/cu.usbserial

If you are the only serial port user on your system it probably doesn't really matter if you use cu or tty but cu is the norm when your connecting out via serial (as opposed to waiting for something to connect in).

With that out of the way I can say that screen does have a scroll back buffer. Perhaps the easiest way to use it, assuming you are using the default key bindings, is CTRL-A ESC and then use your cursor keys to scroll around. ESC again to go back to normal mode. Screen also has copy and paste support built in but you don't need to use it if you are using a modern windowing system like OSX. Remember screen was built for use on dumb terminals where, I can assure you, it's the best thing since sliced bread but thats why it emulates its own terminal within your window.

If you do want to use something built in that does't do its own terminal emulation then there is the cu command. Depending on the permissions setup you might need to be root to run it (or use sudo) - I haven't really used it under OSX.

    cu -l /dev/cu.usbserial

You can drop your session with:

You are quite mistake, this second preview is near feature complete. It needs some polishing, but for the most part it's nearly ready to be shipped.

Sorry, but it is nowhere near ready to be shipped. It easily needs another 3-6 months. It's still buggy, has performance issues and many features are still missing.

I have been a PC user for basicly my entire life, but I have never exactly been happy with it. The thing would crash, have the BSoD, but that is not really why i switched.

Basicly I got tired of the Windows Operating System, Bill Gates, and the millions of PC Viruses. I needed a notebook for college in the fall, and I picked up a 17" PowerBook G4 because it suites all of my needs and it replaces the need for a desktop for quite some time. I have enjoyedm first week as a Mac User because everything has worked so well, and I am actually used to all of the windows opened at the same time now! (I never understood before untill I actually spent hours upon hours with the thing)

I have now become addicted to iTunes and have puchased 68 songs in my first week. :D Another reason why I wanted the Mac is because of Final Cut Pro. I love watching and making movies so I felt that the Mac would be the best thing for me... The last movie I made was on my Pentium 4 box and I nearly threw it out of the window because it was so evil... Hopefully the Mac is more kind. I have not started to edit video on my Mac yet, but that is because I have not had the time.

I like my "little" 17" PowerBook because it works great and everyone I have shown it off to has been really amazed by it.

Compared to the G3 it will be a rocket.
The mini is certainly good value for its price.
Make sure you max out the RAM.
