The Sathyam cinemas wore a festive look as a large red carpet was rolled out for Kollywood celebrities who came to watch the Karthi- Tammannaah starrer Paiyaaat a special show on Friday.
Ilayathalapathy Vijay made a rare appearance with his wife Sangeetha (see pic). Among the early birds were Sibiraj and Revathi followed by Venkat Prabhu, Premji, Jai, Parthiban and Vivek.Tamannaah, looking pretty in a green ankle length outfit and hero Karthi along with director Lingusamy were seen greeting the guests and giving bytes to select media.
Karthi and Tamannaah reportedly arrived from the shoot of Karthi’s current film, the remake of Vikramarudu.
“I am happy to be here since Lingusamy, Karthi and Tamannaah are all my friends,” said Vijay who is currently co starring with the Paiyaa heroine Tamannaah in Sura, another big summer release.
The film has taken a grand opening all over and many star gazers were heard commenting that they tried in vain for tickets.
“I am happy with the response to the film,” said an elated Karthi who is seen minus his lungi – soiled shirt look for the first time in this, his third film. Lingusamy added, “We are doing special promos of the film on local trains tomorrow, in keeping with the theme of the story which a road journey.”
Also spotted at the glitzy event were comedian Vivek, Parthiban with his two children, Sibiraj and Revathi, Jeyam Ravi, Yuva, Simbu, Vishnuvardhan and Anu, Priya Manikandan, Krish, Sangeetha, Sona, Amudhan, Ramji, Hari and his wife, Gautham Menon and Narain. Editor Anthony and cameraman Madhie arrived with their friends and were seen animatedly discussing the movie.
