I have already tried moving files in and out of FileVault and creating empty disk images and deleting them but nothing has brought the optimization dialog back when I log out.
I do have a backup of my data (it's about two weeks old). It's on an external harddrive in Iceland (I'm on vacation in Germany now) and just a mirror of the disk before I turned FileVault on. I do not want to lose all the changes I made during the last two weeks, though - and I also can't clear the external harddrive for a new backup, since I had to delete many huge files on the Powerbook in order to turn FileVault on in the first place.
I also had to move my entire iTunes folder to my iPod - leaving me all without music (I deleted it on my Mac and cleaned my iPod before I manually copied the Music folder). I copied a few songs back from my iPod to my PB, though.

I was there and gone in 5mins. I'm going to hold off on installing Leopard until I can figure out if I could of gotten it cheaper through my school bookstore. Also, I'll probably wait to install it until Markspace updates Missing Sync for Windows Mobile.
I'm pretty disappointed about the educational price only being 10% off when its usually $69!

if you get a google voice number (FREE) and download that app on your ipad you can use that number to text.

Less than perfect means "in fact uncomfortable" or "almost perfect" ?

iTunes can read all of those folders of music just fine, just tell it not to manage your library or copy your stuff around, and itll probably do fine. You can also ofc choose to play all of your audio and video in Quicktime X, which is still there on a Mac, and still useful. But iTunes for Mac is what Windows Media Player is for Windows. You can also use VLC on the Mac to play files QuickTime cant handle.
Flash is just fine on the Mac, the only times you hear about problems are from people with PowerPC Macs, and the high CPU load has decreased dramatically with the latest upgrades from Adobe. As an example, my 5 year old very first gen Intel iMac (You know, the 1.83 Core Duo), running a Flash Video, as well as several instances of this forum with Flash Ads, my CPU is currently at 35%, and thats with iTunes, Mail, iCal, Messenger, Skype open as well.

...americans help me out here there is a store in NY that does electronics.....SNAP just came to me there its called JR Electronics !
Actually there are more than 4 stores in NYC--in manhattan proper, yes just those 4, but staten island has one, i don't think any other borough does yet tho
and beyond those and best buy, save your gas. J and R does not carry the iPad as of yet. accessories only.

TRIM and Capsule Rebel are great cases. If you go for the TRIM make sure your order the black one, because the colored ones will stain within days if you are not careful.

If you're buying at an actual Apple Store, then, sadly, you can't upgrade anything for the PBs (except buy very overpriced RAM). If the deal you're getting is a good one, I'd just accept the smaller drive and maybe buy an external.

I use OmniWeb 5.1 - yes, it is not free after a trial period, but it is the "power user's" browser.
Give it a go, see how you like it. They have educational discounts; its $30, $20 if you are a student.
It really is amazing.

I too second onyx (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11582/onyx). It's a great app for clearing out caches, logs, checking disks and tweaking some of OS X features.

I've had some problems with my Linksys router. It works about 98% of the time. But that 1% really gets to you... its just stops working sometimes for no good reason. Its the only router I've used, so maybe its a problem with routers accross the board.

Anyone aware of this story yet? Apparently some manager of a Chipotle branch ran over a cat, and then posted jokingly about it on Facebook. She also posted on Facebook about the stupidity of the customers at Chipotle.
Anyway, someone finds this online, and posts it to Chipotle's FB page. Within 24 hours, the entire situation explodes. Chipotle stumbles over itself posting numerous status updates, only bringing more attention to an issue that wouldn't have really been a big deal had they not said anything.
Needless to say, the entire thing is hilarious. There's even a fan page for the entire incident, with screenshots of the manager's original posts.
What's great is that there's now a fan page for this hilarious incident, and it's exploding!

I don't see any problem with the large number of categories either, just as long as all of them doesn't appear on the front page.
And we definitely should have separate categories for Apple software and hardware.
