I presume since this uses the undocumented (apart from the header files) IOConnectCallMethod it would not be OK to include in an app for the Mac App Store?
You'll probably have to try it to find out for sure.
However, a google search for IOConnectCallMethod found this:
http://lists.apple.com/archives/darwin-drivers/2008/mar/msg00007.html
It suggests IOConnectCall* functions are newer replacements for older deprecated functions. So using the older functions WOULD get you rejected, but the newer ones, I dunno: try it and see what happens.

Thanks for the tip about PhoneGap.
The part I'm least confident about is the networking (mobile devices connecting to the Mac without any of them having Internet access). I'm not a networking expert so I'm unclear what I need to do.

the more the better!
eagerly awaiting Aperture 3.1 to speed a few things up and please add pinch zoom for the MBP users, even Lightroom has pinch zoom.
I'm happy with the new Aperture but these tiny little things can be improved.
There is pinch zoom in the browser view and while working with Faces, just not while editing a picture.
IMHO, pinch zoom gets in my way more often than not. I find myself accidentally triggering it while dragging a selection in Faces or the browser. I strongly prefer more intentional control over something like that in a pro photo package ...
That having been said, it would be nice to be an option.

having an iphone will change your life. especially if you are coming from non-iphone phone. I can guarantee you that you won't regret even a single penny. Think of this way, Iphone is a "must", ipad can be supplemental and be a capable companion.
I think the most effective route is to go with iphone first, then save up for the ipad.

Hi there,
Just wanted to make a suggestion on thread titles. I may be the only one, but I think that thread titles with repeated question marks (?????) are annoying and unnecessary. It only suggests unnecessary urgency and importance to the thread the poster has written. Therefore I think there should be a rule that states that threads with more than one repeated question mark in the title will be deleted until renamed.
Thanks,
Ams.

I nealry lost a testicle when my wife saw the debit... but once she got to use the monitor a bit.... she was thrilled and acknowledge how much better it is then her 17 inch dell at work and praised me for making such a wise investment....
now if that does not demonstrate the quality of apple.... you should just go buy a dell!
The negative post on the new 23" on the Apple forum have slowed down and seem to be populated by a few who have uneven backlighting with yellow shading on the left.

Why are you all saying I use jpegs? They're all pngs...
Pngs or jpgs both gave me the same result as you are having in your blog. I resorted to gifs, and the problem was corrected.
i have to ask... what is with the drop shadow? huge, obvious drop shadows are NOT good unless you are animating 3d objects or doing motion graphics... the big drop shadow is running rampant around the web attacking sites left and right... i say we start here and rise against the drop shadow.
beyond that, like other users said, your tech side is fine. as for visuals, others have pointed out the color issues.
It's all about personal tastes and preferences. Mine are similar to yours obviously, I like a flatter look. I hacked on one of the stock themes for my own WordPress page (http://mnjordan.com/journal/), to give it a monochromatic, flat look consistent with the overall "theme" of my site.

Try going into parallels settings and increasing the ram allocated to the virtual machine to at least 3gigs. That is what I had to do. Hope that helps. :)
Have it set for 4GB :( And it still doesn't explain why OSX would be so slow.
That said, today is the first time the machine actually felt faster than any other machine I have used. I had to do some video editing with iMovie, and the response was great. I am guessing it's something with Parallels itself, I'll have to try Fusion next, unless Virtual Box has been fixed to work in a 64bit environment.

AppCleaner will uninstall every part of a program, including the oddball things that don't get uninstalled when you drag it to the trash. And it's free.

u can also use Appzapper.
I just tested a few of these, using Skype.app as the file to be deleted.
AppZapper found 4 items
AppCleaner found 6 items
AppDelete found 9 items

I've been waiting to get a new PB ever since August. I even chose to wait until MWParis. But unfortunately, the newest from ThinkSecret really hits the nail on the head.
No new PBs because:
1) HW sales soft across the board
2) Apple moving away from announcing product at events due to sales slowdown leading up to event.
3) a realistic speed bump (1Ghz) is too small of a value to be worth the effort. (If you think there are going to be duals in the PB anytime soon, you've either been on daddy's computer too long or you've stopped taking your medication.)
There will be PBs in October because:
1) errrrr...PBs have gone 6 months w/o an upgrade
2) edu pricing ends soon/trying to get rid of inventory
It just doesn't add up. I hate it every bit as much as the next guy, but what are you going to do in the face of such evidence? I guess I better just settle for a 800mhz Ti...:(

Thanks to both of you.
to get your VHS source onto your computer it would have to be digitized first. So either you digitized the video or someone did it for you. How this was done determines the base quality of your DIGITAL source. It can't be better than your source, but it can be converted to a more useful or less useful digital format (h.264 = more / mpeg2 = less for example).
Ah, I'm stupid. Actually I knew this, do not know how I forgot it when explaining what I am asking. I forgot that I know, that it is the hooked up hardware that changes the source from analogue to digital. Why else should I use this type of thing here called "A/D-converter". (Btw, the A/D-converter I am using is ADVC-300 via firewire and some times EyeTV250 via USB).
I can't explain to myself why I mixed up the hardware's job with what the software does. :o:confused:
it seems your asking how imovie handles video import for various versions.
Yes, that's it.
...but i can tell your quoting some rather old versions ...
I am using Vers. 3 and 5, because I have two PPC-Macs, that I possess for a long time, but never had any need to use iMovie before. I use my Macs 5-6 years (from the day on they were bought). The next buy (first Intel) is actually due, but I am still procrastinating it, but decided to start saving my VHS to an external disk better now then later and so I use my PPC-Macs with the old versions of iMovie they came with.
Noise filtering would be a filter...that's a post process.... - in the software not the hardware, ok.
Have no idea what a "line time base" is.
ah, baseline time correction was the word I was searching for. ADVC uses TBC, EyeTV not. I thought Maybe iMovie does this too, on the fly.
In iMovieHD 5 you can choose that it saves the incoming material as mpeg4. I do not mean the converting to mpeg4 or whatever type after editing (chopping parts in between and all that stuff).
I thought the ADVC-300 changes the analogue one to DV and iMovie puts it in mpeg4.
After that I would cut/edit the film and convert it to h.264.
I choose to let iMovie5 record as DV, because I could not see the sense in capturing it as mpeg4, when I plan to convert it to h.264 afterwords.
If you've got your VCR hooked up to a DV camcorder and the DV camcorder attached to your Mac via Firewire, you can think of capturing it in iMovie as a file transfer. The camcorder is encoding the VCR's output to standard PAL DV, and your Mac is just recording that data.
If you try to do any colour correction or what have you in iMovie, a different engine in different versions might result in different quality. But these versions are so old I don't think you'll find much comparison online — probably best to just suck it and see.
Ok, thanks.
I am assuming this now, (right?): If I plan to save the films on an external disk and convert them to h.264 later, it does not affect the quality, if I use DV coming from iMovie2 or 5.
Example:
1. capture VHS in iMovie
2. save them to disk
3. forget about them
4. buy an Intel-Mac at the end of the year (because I do not want my PPC spend nights with converting DV to h.264
5. open DV file on external disk in mpegstreamclip(converter-app) on new Intel Mac, choose "convert to h.264", setting bitrate and everything I like.
It does not matter if iMovie2 saved it as DV or iMovie5 saved it as DV, right?
PS: I know, me using an ADVC-300 after my questions, sounds like a kid with one guitar lesson playing a Gibson guitar. :)

28th Production week, 2007. 200 MHZ CPU speed, A1203, 8GB. To know more, we need more information. Why do you want to know?
What more information would you like?
Specifically I'd like to know more about the production date. Was it one of the first iPhone 2G's sold? Or one of the last? Obviously it was made in 2007 so at least it was within the first year. What is the earlier known "production week" for an iPhone 2G?
