There hasn't been anyone against a Requested Articles page, so I've created one.
arn, if you're wanting a non-wiki solution, this page can just be used temporarily until we have something better. Otherwise, would it be a good idea to set this page as editable by everyone, not just users?

I am going to be picking up my new 27" iMac at the store tomorrow. For the past 4 years I have been using a 24" Dell at 1920x1200. Since the 27" iMac is 2560x1140, do most people run it at native or something lower?
I am looking forward to the increased screen size so I can have more rows/columns viewable, but not sure I want them any smaller.
I sit about 24-30" away from the screen.
How would the 27" look at something lower?
It wouldn't be any smaller, as the screen is bigger and spreads the extra out for a similar pixel density. If you try to run it at 1920x1080, not only will it look bad, but you won't be able to fit more on the screen, regardless of physical size.

I am leaving the mac world :( I just got a HP computer with a slow celeron and 256 memory. My parents though need a more powerful computer, their 233 mhz beige isn't cutting it. So i am giving them my eMac and using the HP still macs hit intel. This is not going to be fun.

...or am I totally missing something?.
You don't need scissors to "cut" anything, as far as I can tell. You just need to use the right selection tool.
I've included some screen shots to demonstrate...
The first example shows what happens when you select any one object with the black arrow tool (Selection Tool) that has been Grouped. It selects all of the Grouped objects.
The second example shows what happens when you select any one object with the white arrow tool with the plus sign (Group Selection Tool) that has been Grouped. It selects that object and not the Group. (double clicking on one of the grouped objects will select the whole group)
The third example shows what happens when you select any point on one object with the white arrow tool without the plus sign (Direct Selection Tool) that has been Grouped. It selects a specific control point on that object.
You might also use the pulldown Object > Ungroup to make selection easier.

The biggest drawback with your current machine is the 3GB memory. Lightroom is much happier with 4GB or more. I used to have a late 2006 MBP15 and LR was sluggish with 3GB.
I should think the faster CPU will have a much greater effect on performance than the GPU. GPU speed is really only relevant for games and video rendering.
I have a personal preference for matte displays. I used to own a black Santa Rosa Macbook and I was not happy with the display. It was largely useless unless you were in a location where you could control reflections and glare. The added screen real estate in the 15 is useful too, and I felt constrained by the resolution of the 13" display. I have traveled with my MBP15 to Asia a couple of times, and its size and weight are easily manageable on trips.

You'll probably get different answers but my opinion would be that unless the game requires it, don't upgrade to a later system.
^^^ I agree with this. I'm not a big fan of running 8.x on 68K hardware.
For vintage gear, I like to stick to OS versions close to what the Mac shipped with (if it were me, I'd downgrade the 575 to 7.1). Any non-rare Mac from the G3 down can be had for next to nothing these days, so if you have an app that requires 8.0, I'd go grab a machine more suitable to run it. Then again, I'm always looking for an excuse to bring home another machine. :p

Did you fight over who got to be Mac?
What would you like the title of your ad to be in the contest gallery? Apple's "PC and Mac" ads have titles, and yours should too.

Oh I understand that... but is 1333 even noticeably faster? Is it worth bothering spending the extra money on 1333mhz RAM over the significantly cheaper 1067?
I think that depends on the CL = cas latency of the RAM sticks.
I just decided to get some CL7 RAM for my i7 2600K build that was a slightly lower bandwidth than the faster speed bandwidth RAM since that was a CL9 and supposedly the CL7 rated out slightly faster (and it was on sale for a little less $$)...

Ironic part is, by trying to defend this law the republicans are just speeding up the whole process of it going to court and having it ruled unconstitutional. So thanks to republicans, the Feds may soon be recognizing gay marriages! Who would have thought?
Not only that - it looks like those in Congress who want to take up the case want FRC (SPLC certified Hate group Family Research Council) to partner with them on the cases. Congressional Republicans may want to rethink that as nearly all their research and positions will not hold up in a court of law (for example, a child does better if his or her same sex parents don't divorce, so obviously that must show a child raised by two members of the same sex will damage the child, no study on that needed!).

Dual channel memory -- requires pairs of DIMMs that meet the minimum spec.
Machine looks at both DIMMs as one big DIMM.
So is that definitely what i have? it says on some of the memory sites that somes G5s have four dimm slots and others 8. I'm pretty sure mine has 8, but want to verify.

I think only a few east coast stores ever had them, and you were required to activate in store to prevent re-selling.
Anyways, that doesn't apply at all to anyone international. eyemac, no don't worry about it :) I'd prefer to keep offers to PM just for privates sake but I will comment that I'm looking for a little more because I still lose a few dollars there, and I really don't want to lose any money. I'm seeing them go for $450-$550 on eBay so that would be optimal but I don't expect that here, of course.
Please bid if you are interested :)
I'd think expecting to get $550 is overly optimistic. eBay might be your best bet, people on here tend to be informed and aren't willing to overpay.
Good luck in your sale.

Googles translation of what I think you all are talking about:
I met many people yesterday, and I listened much.
although nothing still is official, it seems that APPLE is directed towards AMD to replace G4.
One spoke again me of Jaguar under X86.
In any event it seems that APPLE is directed towards a solution preventing any possibility of installing Mac OS X on a PC.
(I don't know French :o)
From that I get no new information, just more pondering. The last line gives me the impression that the writer does not believe that Apple is going to go toward the x86 platform for OSX.
Anyway, did not Steve say himself that there will be faster versions of the current models next year? and that the G4 still has alot of life? His comments certainly don't point towards x86 in Apple systems, at least not for along time to come.
I think we should let this subject die for awhile (like the Apple PDA rumors) and wait for more tangible proof and/or information concerning the x86/Marklar rumor.
How about someone get a screenshot of "about this mac" with Athlon instead of G4 in it? Or maybe something less easily photoshopped, like a motherboard with Socket A connections and an Apple logo next to it ;).
Lately my stomach has been making funny noises when ever 'marklar' related info is talked about... I guess I'll go to Costco and get some Pepto-Bismol so I can keep reading :D.

I think you're all a bit confused about this piece of news. Localization is nothing new. There are already plenty of localized apps in the store.
What's new is that Apple is adding support for these six new languages in addition to the ones already supported.
Therefore, overall impact on the store and relevant procedures is, at best, minimal.
