Shankar is known in the Indian film industry for the uniqueness his films exude. He is busy with his current project ‘Nanban’ with Vijay, Jeeva and Srikanth playing the lead roles.

The film which is a remake of the very successful Bollywood flick ‘3 Idiots’ is pacing forward at a brisk phase. The music for the film is being taken care of by Harris Jayaraj.

Apart from retaining the ‘All is well…’ song from the original, the Tamil track of ‘Nanban’ has hit headlines yet again, this time for a unique number which has been created by Harris Jayaraj. Reports indicate that the song features more than fifteen languages, and has been sung by Vijay Prakash the same guy who made us enjoy ‘Hosanna’ in ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya.’

Now, apart from the many languages that will be heard in just one song, director Shankar has gone to the extent of short listing some of the most exotic locales in the globe to film the song, we hear!

Since it is a big budget flick and culminates many stars in the project Shankar and his team have unanimously decided the film to be a Diwali treat this year, reveal sources.

'Nanban' music tracks!

Though this summer is one of the hottest in many years it continues to offer some really cool flicks for movie lovers this season. Kollywood is continuously churning out good films back-to-back with the most-wanted heroes of today in Tamil. Here is some good news for all you ‘Ilayathalapathy’ fans out there.

On one side, director Shankar is shooting ‘Nanban’ at a brisk pace. The film is a multi-starrer with Vijay playing the lead. On the other end, the music director Harris Jayaraj is contributing the tunes for this film. From what close associates to the crew reveal, it looks like the music album of ‘Nanban’ will have four songs. The lyrics, for all the songs, have been penned by Madhan Karky.

‘Nanban’ has retained the refrain ‘All is well’ in its Tamil remake too. This number has been belted out by Vijay Prakash and it looks like this song will showcase the young and energetic phase of college life. This might be the opening track in the album. Another number is on friendship and goes ‘Nee Yen Nanban…’ This song is said to have been rendered by Benny Dayal and Blaaze.

The next number looks like a romantic one and begins with ‘Uyire Engai…’ this song has been crooned by Hariharan and Chinmayi. Looks like this might strike a chord with the audience. Another track goes ‘Killi Killi…’

We’ve given you the latest updates on ‘Nanban’s music tracks, however we will know things for sure only when the album hits the stands! A tentative date has not been zeroed in yet for the music launch but be sure that we will let you know well in advance about the big event.

‘Nanban’ shoots at Chennai mall

The ‘Nanban’ team is shooting at a brisk pace thanks to director Shankar’s eye for detail and perfection. The film which is a remake of the very successful Bollywood film ‘3 Idiots’ like its Hindi counterpart has a galaxy of stars in Tamil too. Recently the director of the film with his cast and crew were seen at Chennai’s Ampa Mall in Amijikkarai. Director Shankar was seen calling the shoots with the camera zooming in on the hero of the film Vijay and his pair Ileana.

At a public location like Ampa Mall where shoppers and window shoppers are in abundance one can expect how difficult it becomes for the film crew to shoot, and when the cast includes “Ilayathalapathi” Vijay and the director is Shankar, then things become more complicated and controlling the crowd becomes hectic. The public was flocking to have a look at Vijay as well as the scene that was being shot. Director Shankar, through his assistants, made sure that none in the crowd was clicking pictures or recording the scene being shot.

People who were present at the spot revealed that Vijay was looking his cool casual self and dressed casually in jeans, and Ileana looked fetching in a body hugging designer costume. Shankar has roped in Harris Jayaraj for the music and as usual the expectations are running quite high. Sources indicate that the music for the film is nearing completion.
‘Nanban’ is being produced under the Gemimi Film Circuit banner and has a huge star cast with Vijay, Jeeva, Srikanth, Ileana, Sathyaraj and S.J. Suryiah in important roles. The story is based on India’s most read novelist, Chetan Bhagat’s book ‘Five Point Someone.’

First Look of nanban Out

3 Idiots, the biggest hit in Indian cinema history is being remade in Tamil as Nanban. Director Shankar is remaking it with Vijay, Sriram and Jeeva in the lead roles. There is huge buzz on this movie as it is the first ever remake film from Shankar’s table.

People are excited to see how Shankar handles this light hearted entertainer which has a strong message questioning our educational system. Also Vijay fans are thrilled that their matinee idol has chosen a down to earth role in Nanban.

The first look of Nanban is out and Shankar tried to make it look different from the Hindi posters. He has chosen vibrant colors and weird make ups to grab the attention. However, the tagline ‘All is Well’ is not replaced or rephrased. There are plans to remake it in Telugu too but it will take time as the suitable cast is not found at the moment.

On his part, Harris says, "Madan Karky has done a tremendous job by using more than 10 languages in one song. Very interesting and applaudable job indeed." The number is crooned by Vijay Prakash and is said to be one of the highlights of 'Nanban'.

‘Velayudham’ uptade

The next Vijay blockbuster is gearing for release. ‘Velayudham,’ a product of director Jayam Raja is 80% complete. The film has actor Vijay as the hero with Genelia, Hansika Motwani, and Saranya Mohan as the lead ladies. Most of director’s films have oodles of family sentiment mixed with the right amount of comedy, great songs and beautiful locales.

Sources close to the film’s unit have revealed that the team will soon be heading to an undisclosed overseas location for shooting a couple of songs. They have also revealed that the post-production work is also being carried out simultaneously. The film which set off on a positive note post Vijay’s huge success in his ‘Kavalan’ will be released by mid-2011.
Post the success of ‘Kavalan’ there is a lot of expectation on Vijay and now with the actor signing films with directors Shankar and Mani Ratnam the fans of the actor are already in high spirits. Sources close to the director have revealed that this film is a superhero subject. This news will be a bonanza for all Vijay fans who would love to see their favorite star scaling multistoried buildings and rescuing damsels in distress.
The music for this film has been scored by Vijay Antony. He was nominated by Vijay TV for the best music director award for his compositions in ‘Vettaikaran.’ The music was a rage among young children and youth. We hope Vijay Antony repeats history with this film too. Sources close to the composer revealed that he has given his best shot in ‘Velayudham.’

Vijay is a nice guy: Ileana

Ileana D’Cruz is happy that she is back in Kollywood with the high profile ‘Nanban’. And her joy is double to act with Vijay, with her first scene with the Ilaya Thalapathi being shot recently.

“Had my first scene with Vijay. And he’s really not what I expected! A real nice guy with a quiet sense of humour. A pleasure to work with,” says the pretty actress, expressing her happiness.
Ileana bought her ticket for Tamil cinema in ‘Kedi’, but the film’s failure forced her to stay away from Kollywood. She however became a hot property in Telugu, by acting opposite all top heroes.
‘Nanban’, directed by Shankar, is a remake of Hindi hit ‘Three Idiots’. The Tamil version has Vijay, Srikanth and Jeeva in lead roles. “Shankar is so down-to-earth. Working with him is pleasure,” Ileana said earlier.
